What Makes Us Unique

  1. What we call “Branded non-fiction” includes lines by major institutions (Mayo Clinic), high profile work by individuals (Bill Bradley, Paul Krugman) and leaders in their field (Janson’s History of Art). We specialize in branded non-fiction in all non-fiction categories.

  2. We help our clients with their ultimate publishing purpose – naturally, we maximize sales, advances, royalty rates and contract terms, but many of our clients (including individuals, estates, non-profit institutions and corporations) are not “writers” first. These clients have broader objectives. Examples of these objectives include brand projection and extension, enhanced credibility for a sponsoring organization, advancement of business and/or political objectives and “making a difference” by changing societal attitudes. We are a facilitator assisting to define these objectives and a long term “custodian” of these objectives once defined.

  3. We have represented many of our clients for decades. We are often the institutional publishing “memory” as the people in charge of the publishing programs change. While we deal with every major publisher in the community, many of our clients are in long term relationships with one publishing partner.

  4. We are expert in a wide range of communication tools of measurable impact – direct response, special sales, electronic rights – which are usually more important to our clients than in typical book arrangements.

  5. Many valuable publishing projects are complicated by entangled agreements entered over time and a wide array of interested parties who may not share the same goals. Protecting digital rights and the opportunity to sell directly to customers illustrate these issues. We specialize in unifying complex situations. We can in the process increase publishing value by orders of magnitude. Arthur Klebanoff is a veteran publishing representative who has handled over $1 billion of publishing deals.
